2012 Honey Space, New York
Performance and Installation
Cicada was a 180 minute performance and installation for the group show ¨Honey Me To Tears" which exhibited at Honey Space Gallery in New York.
The installation was created out of wood jute twine, plexiglass, two way mirror and incandescent bulbs. In tandem, I created a compilation of cicada sounds to accompany the duration of the performance. I was embodying a cicada and acting out the ritual of the emerging nymph where the cicadas tunnel out from the ground shed their skins and morph into adults. During the performance I was writing streams of consciousness verse relating my internal experience and offering them to viewers to interpret.
